Located on the west central Florida Gulf Coast, 70 miles north of Tampa Bay, Citrus County is bordered by Levy County to the north; Marion County to the northeast, Sumter County to the east; and Hernando County to the south. By car, Citrus County can be reached by US 19, US 41, or I-75 from the northern and mid-western section of the U.S. From the east coast, Citrus County is a 90 minute drive east from I-95 (DeLand/Lake Helen exit) on State Road 44. Citrus County is approximately three hours south of Tallahassee; three hours southwest of Jacksonville; two hours west of St. Augustine or Daytona Beach; ninety minutes northwest of Orlando; ninety minutes north of Tampa; and sixty minute north of Clearwater. Air travelers can reach Citrus County in less than two hours by car or limousine from Tampa International Airport via I-75; from Orlando International Airport via the 528 BeeLine Expressway to the East-West Expressway, west on SR 50 to north I-75 or US41; or from Clearwater Airport via US 19 north.
